Coating Place has appointed a new President, Ajay Damani, along with a new member of its Board of Directors, Rob Schrepfer.

Coating Place’s specialty is Wurster fluid bed microencapsulation technology serving multiple industry segments. Select capabilities include formulation and analytical development, tech transfer, process scale-up, and commercial manufacturing.

New Coating Place President’s Role

As president, Damani will report to the CDMO’s CEO, Tim Breunig. Damani himself also joins the Coating Place Board of Directors.

In a press release announcing the appointments, Coating Place said Damani has extensive experience in the CDMO sector. Previously, his leadership roles have covered the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and animal health domains.

“[Damani] is widely recognized for building strong customer relationships, driving innovation, and delivering consistent operational and commercial results,” the press release said.

Meanwhile, Schrepfer currently serves as President, North American Generics at McKesson. (Read more from McKesson on the current state of the pharmaceutical supply chain, in this online exclusive.)

Other Recent Company News

As Coating Place marks its 50th anniversary, the company also announced, earlier in January 2026, a strategic investment from 1315 Capital. Securing the funding from that Philadelphia-based, healthcare-focused private equity firm enables Coating Place to scale certain operations.

These include meeting growing demand for services in pharmaceutical as well as nutraceutical, animal health, and industrial markets.

When the investment announcement was made, Breunig reflected on its timing within a milestone year for the company.

“This investment marks an exciting milestone for Coating Place as we celebrate our 50th anniversary and prepare for the next chapter of growth,” he said. “We are excited to partner with 1315 Capital. Combined with their industry expertise and strategic growth mindset, we will accelerate growth across the many industries we serve.”
